Want to perfect the glowing makeup look? There are different ways to go about it, depending on your skin type. We’ve asked the London-based makeup artist duo Pamela & Andrea to share their top tips for achieving a long-lasting glow.

”It’s so important that the skin is properly prepped before applying any makeup. By doing a good prep you’ll help the makeup stay longer on the skin and even out the complexion. However, we all have different skin types that we need to consider when we are creating a glowing look. Keep reading to find out how to adapt the look to suit your skin”, Pamela & Andrea explain.

Step 1: Skincare

For oily or combination skin: “A toner spray is a great way to start as it calms the skin and balances oil. We would then add a lightweight moisturiser around the outer face (jaw, temples and cheekbones) avoiding the areas that naturally get oily through the centre. Give that a few minutes to sink in and then add a mattifying pore-minimising primer down the centre of the face.”
For dry skin: “Begin with a gentle exfoliator to remove any dead skin cells and allow the following products to penetrate the skin. We would also use a hyaluronic acid infused face mask to give a deep hydration boost, followed by a rich moisturiser.”

Step 2: Highlighting

For oily or combination skin: “After applying the mattifying primer down the T-zone or other oily areas, follow up with a liquid highlighter to any points of the face that you would like to bring forth. This could be the cheekbones, brow bones, temples, and tip of the nose.”
For dry skin: ”A great tip is to mix a drop of liquid highlighter with your moisturiser for an added glowing boost. If your skin is very dry, you can apply highlighter lightly to the whole face on top of your moisturiser before adding foundation.”

Step 3: Base makeup

”Next step is to add some coverage to even out the skin tone. Apply a small amount of your favourite foundation using your fingers, but only to the areas that need it – not on the entire face. Using your fingers really warms up the product and helps blend the makeup more seamlessly into the skin.
Follow up with a concealer of choice on any blemish prone areas or redness spots that the foundation didn't cover. You can use your finger to lightly blend in the product for a more even finish.”

Step 4: Add colour and definition

”We like to apply a cream bronzer with a soft dense brush. With the lightest touch, tap the product onto the temples, cheekbones, and jawline. This warms up the face and gives it dimension.
Use the same tapping technique to apply cream or liquid blush, adjusting placement based on your face shape. For rounder faces, we like to apply blush on the cheekbones for a more lifted effect, and if you have a more angular face with strong cheekbones, we suggest adding blush to the apples of the cheeks.”

Step 5: Finishing touches

“To finish off this glowing look and keep it lasting all day, it's crucial to set all the products in place. We love creams and liquid products because they seamlessly blend together, enhancing the glow of the products underneath rather than dulling them. So, for that reason, using a loose powder is essential to ensure nothing shifts throughout the day.
We recommend applying a small amount of loose powder to areas where you don't want an extra glow. Focus on the T-zone and around the nose for oily skin. However, for skin that’s on the drier side, we advise skipping the powder altogether and going straight to setting spray for a flawless and long-lasting finish.”
